Trekking The Majestic Raigad! All that was need during the final year of college days was a break from all the assignments and projects. My friend suggested we could trek the Raigad Fort, that was nearby her native place. I decided to go for it, I just overviewed about the Raigad Fort. The pictures and reviews fascinated me all the more.This fotress is situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, approximately 125 km away from Pune. The fort once served as the capital of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Great Maratha king. It was around the year of 1674 Shivaji Maharaj was crowned the King of a Marathi kingdom, and the auspicious coronation ceremony was held at this fort itself. This fortress falls in the Sahyadri Mountain ranges of India. Krishna Bai Temple, Mahabaleshwar. After visiting the Panch Ganga temple, A pleasant walk through the well marked trail canopied by the forest, isolating from the bustling commercial activities lead us to the surprise that our ancestors and nature had preserved. The Krishnabai Temple is estimated to be built in 1888 by a ruler of Ratnagiri. The temple was located at the hilltop overlooking the magnificent Krishna valley. The temple had a  unique architecture, with Shiva lingam in the garbhakud . In the centre, surrounded by the temple premises , a small fountain of fresh water was flowing through the  cow-face ( gomukh ). It colleted in a Kund or water tank. This water is used for the daily rituals of the temple. It is also said that this stream is the source of the Krishna river The temple had breathtaking  stone carved columns and ceilings, despite of being dilapidated it is still beautiful.

The Flower Girl.. Between the pomp and joy of the wedding celebration, the was this adorable little girl who stole my attention. Carefree and innocently , she moved around merrily, for the occasion she, rendered the services of a flower girl delightfully. Gracefully , she walked down the aisle, she reached out for the petals in her basket in style, scattering them along the path with her angelic smile. The path where the bride and groom walked towards their new beginnings, for which the petals were scattered, signifying prosperity and blessings. It is said the during the times of the ancient Romans, the bride was preceded down the aisle by young girls. Holding baskets filled with wheat and herbs, that may not be seen as usual to us. But the significance of these rituals, was for bringing about good health and blessings. As well as keeping away the newly married couple, from the undesirable and eyes of the evil.
